Memphis Motorsports Park CLOSED!

Well - there goes the best track around here. It came as a sudden announcement this past Friday, October 30th. The track was under contract to be sold but the deal fell through. Now all we have left around here are 1/8th mile tracks with the closest 1/4 mile being 3hrs away in Bowling Green or St. Louis. Hopefully someone will buy it although it will probably be a difficult sale with no national NASCAR or NHRA events and those are hard to come by. Also sucks as a lot of NMCA, Pump Gas Drags, Fastest Streetcar Shootouts, LSX Shootout and plenty more events have always been held in Memphis due to its central location.

nearest track around here is 2 hours away 1 way. the 1 track ever in connecticut closed 20 years ago. and they wonder why there is so much illegal street racing and accidents.

Small tracks are a dying breed. My local 1/4 miler may close, as well.

Got 3 tracks within a 1hr and half trip and I hope it stays that way. Can't believe Memphis is shutting it down, buddy just went to the NHRA event there.

I guess I'm lucky with 5 within a 2 hour drive of my house but:

I figure the local 1/8th is on the chopping block soon. One of the developers who didn't even live in the state brought a successful noise ordnance against the track. I figure it's only a matter of time before they come back for more.

that's like buying a house/property next to a airport or traintrack then complaining about the noise and trying to get them closed down. they were there before you if you don't want to deal with sell the house/property.

those people as make me mad. wished i was as lucky as you with all those tracks around.
