Careful..SMC pump and methanol are touchy feely.

I get mine at the track. 2.50 per gallon.

Please explain?? What's different about methanol that would make it incompatable with the SMC pump??

It is more corrossive than denatured. The SMC pump is a steel roller vane pump. Having it submerged in methanol is like leaving a piece of metal in salt water. I have a friend thats been running it in his SMC kit since april..so far so good..but the manufacturer of the kit(SMC) doesnt recommend this type of alcohol with his pump/kit.

Difference with using a pump like the shureflow is that the construction of the pump diaphram is different, and the pump is not submerged inside the liquid. Basically a plastic pump. Methanol doesnt damage plastic..but it does like to corrode steel/metal.

Most race cars that run methanol drain their systems after running to prevent corrossion damage

Though I haven't tried It I would think Methonol would be okay with the pump in the SMC kit if you used it quickly then ran some denatured w/lube. Though why don't you try it first and let me know what happens.

Hey I kind of like bishir's idea. What if ya just use methanol for track use? Empty the tank and put methanol in when you go to race, and when back on the street put the denatured/water back in. Think the pump will hold up for a night of racing?
Dont know who's in the worst situation as far as methanol, you guys with the SMC pump or me with a F150 EFI pump?
