HELP i am being overrun by MMA VS Boxing nut jobs.

Street fight what ever you say

Sports lets talk.
MMA = Jack of all trades master of NONE.
Boxer = Master of throwing punches.

I'll try this one more time for the fanatics
Boxer in an MMA fight = Boxer gets beat down.
MMA fighter in a boxing match = MMA fighter gets beat down.

Street fight - way to many variables
MMA fighters are masters of the ground game and submissions where almost all REAL fights go to. many are also masters of kicks so to say MMA fighters are masters of none is simply incorrect. most can also box very well but not at the same level a professional boxer can obviously because they have not worked their entire life to simply master (1) aspect of fighting. so yes boxers are masters of punches while standing up but punching takes place of the ground as well which includes elbows and many UFC fighter have ended many fights as a result. effectively using elbows is just as skillful as throwing punches.

I would certainly agree that an MMA fighter in a boxing only match would surely lose and the same if a boxer fought a MMA fighter in a MMA match.

take a professional boxer and tell him hes gonna fight bare knuckles and take a professional MMA fighter and tell him the same and tell both to go at in the street and fight till one loses. the boxer will absolutely lose. no question about it.

a boxer can box another boxer and have zero ground game, kicks, elbows, submissions, chokes, knees, etc.... and still do very well. an MMA fighter has to come into the ring with ALL of those disciplines mastered to defeat another MMA fighter or that MMA fighter will expose his weakness and capitalize on it.

if pounching was the only thing that made a fighter skilled then a boxer is the winner. but we know REAL fighting includes much more then pounches. look at Royce Gracie back in the day when he fought Art Jimmerson who was a professional boxer who fought everything from Heavyweight to Super middleweight. he was also the 1983 national golden gloves middleweight champion. Gracie kicked the chit out him and was half his size. no gloves no shoes.

Ken Shamrock was more of a brawler vs. a skilled MMA fighter during UFC #1 and he too lost to Gracie who was a skilled grapler and 1/4 his size, weight and strength and this was a BARE knuckle fight. it was a straight up STREET fight.

a boxer is just a stand up fighter with one skill. an MMA fighter is truly a well rounded fighter and can have no weakness like a boxer can if he wants to compete at the top.

boxing is a dying sport. and im not saying boxing isnt a skilled sport. it absolutely is and im a huge boxing fan but when you compare the two MMA is just more exciting.

Please tell me you are not basing what your saying on Michael Jai White. Hell, let's ask Jean Claude Van Damm what he thinks in that case too lol. Michael Jai White is not a professional fighter, and he would get destroyed in the boxing ring, and he knows it. Show me one real fight that Michael Jai White has had to date, do any even exist? Kimbo Slice is a sloppy fighter, and he relies solely on his brutal strength on the street against fighters who are anything but, and these fighters that he fights on the street who have NO defense. Kimbo Slice does not know the science behind professional boxing, neither do his opponents, he does not know the science within martial arts, he just happened to have a small part in Blood and Bone where he is seen practicing with Michael Jai White behind the scenes because he is open to learning Martial Arts. The closest Michael Jai White came to Mike Tyson was by playing Mike Tyson back in the 1995 movie entitles "Tyson", but the real Tyson would have killed Michael Jai White in a real fight, trust me on that...

...here's my proof he's one of the best martial artist in the world seven black belts he's done alot of underground fighting.. see attached..also.listen say w.e you want ive stepped in the ring plenty of times and even backyard fighting that miami is known for talk your internet garbage you obviously have no idea what hand to hand combat is you dont know a thing about fighting.. i practice krav maga and wing chun when i can and ive been in multiple fights nothing to brag about..

Early life

White was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved as a teen to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he graduated from Central High School in 1988.

He is an accomplished martial artist, holding seven black belts in Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, Kobudo, Goju Ryu with renowned Master Eddie Morales, Tang Soo Do, Wushu and Kyokushin,[3][4] with a specific focus in Kyokushin (although his style incorporates aspects of many different martial arts forms).[5] White started martial arts training at the age of eight.

You keep bringing in Street fighting and like i said the first time WAY TOO MANY VARIABLES In a street fight its usually about who gets the jump on who first and who has a weapon or not ITS DUMB to say X is better then Y in a street fight since NEITHER ARE STREET FIGHTERS.
How many head to head lets get ready to fight street OR bar fights do you come across?
I bet NOT many.
AND yes an MMA fighter has more tools in a street fight YOU HAPPY NOW?? But a street fighter is the one to feared in the street.

Jeff Speakman is the most deadly MMA fighter because all he has to do is his kata with "The Power" playing in the background and his opponents instantly submit!

yeah & lets not forget 2 dudes rolling around on the canvas where often times 1 dudes crotch is in another dudes face, not something I care to see.

"real street fights" are a thing of the past. All you see on the news is man stabbed in fight, man shot during fight etc...

then you apparently dont watch much MMA then.

pick your best MMA fighter, throw some gloves on him and please tell me he can annihilate as many fighters of the same caliber/weight as Iron Mike did that fast...come on we want to laugh ...:p:wink:

MMA fighter do where gloves so ur not making any sense..... and most of guys Tyson knocked out that fast were chumps. I could think of 20 different MMA fighters that would beat Tyson in (1) round buy simply taking him to the ground and submitting him so wearing gloves would not even be necessary

This is total nonsense!!! seems the boxing haters want to have something to talk about...same as football better than baseball better than-ect, ect, I watch both but I'll tell you what, the worst/most boring mma fight is MUCH worse than the worst boxing match I've ever seen...so here goes my rant, mma is still a fairly new sport, but do you think 25 years from now any mma "star" will be held in the same regard as Louis, Ali, Robinson, Foreman, Leonard, Duran, Moore, ect.--PROBABLY NOT. So respect boxing for what it is & stop the hate'n. and btw the argument about mma fighters having more of an "arsenal of weapons" I may agree with that, but I believe it takes some special skills to defeat an opponent with a " limited arsenal" of weapons & specific rules. DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS!!!!!!

Ok,since its seems that its a Connecticut type mentality,,so name me a MMA fighter that wears these so called same gloves and has beat down opponents like they were school yard kids, over and over...I will be eating more ham by the time you wake up and tap out..Merry Xmass to the haterades and the one's who know Iron Mike was badder then all

Mike Tyson was great!

I think Larry Holmes (in his prime) would have beaten Mike though. They fought wayy later in Larry's career.

Joe

GOOD job avoiding the question and making another MMA VS Boxing reference you are a master at your craft.:D
How many MMA guys did Tank Abot KO before they started diving at his ankles like little girls.
Gracie had to pull that Hawaiian dudes hair and hold on for his life in order not to get his but kicked then the glorious punk quits at the gate for the next fight. one of the guys you referenced and hold on a pedestal.

Boxing gloves look like pillows next to MMA gloves and Tyson was destroying other professional boxers with pillows on his hands.

BTW just in case i forgot to mention that these are two very different sports and its like comparing apples and oranges.:confused::biggrin:;)

.... people have short memories, they really do!
