I do not have young children in my home, but I do have two cats that love to play with the cords. Older blinds have a looped cord to raise and lower the blinds that a child can easily get their necks caught in and strangle themselves. If you have those older blinds, replace them or at least cut the cord to make two seperate cords to reduce the chance of strangulation. I did this for my kitties. :-)

We may not be able to prevent accidental deaths 100%, but we can reduce the numbers.
