The subject line says it all!! Car misses at top of everygear just before changing gears and runs fine until it get to the top again. Also what would cause the tach to lite all the way up, with just the key on car not even cranked??

Might turn the fuel pressure up and see if it helps the missing. Or could be coil pack, or valve springs(if original.)

Tach, I don't know(might make sure the the 2 leads behind the altenator aren't plugged into each other(green female and brown male ends,, green is tach other is fuel pump signal.)

Don't have an adjustable regulator. Wish I did!! How do you test a coil pack? And the heads were replaced with completely new ones at 100k, car now has 138k. That included new springs. My senses tell me fuel system upgrades are definately in order!! All stock!

You can do a quick check of the coil with an ohm meter. You should see 11 to 13 ohms across the coil packs (front terminal to back.) You are right on the fuel side of the equation. First, a fuel pressure gauge would tell you if your fueling system is providing enough volume. Fuel pressure should be 34 to 40 psi, vacuum off, at idle. It should rise approx 1 psi for every psi of boost. Given the mileage on your car and the years, I would suspect the fuel system as well. Mine had 60,000 on it and the pump was junk. Good luck.
