If i change to these units from a stock Grand National oalve body and governor do I need to change out the Speedo gear?

Since doing this mod my speed seems off.

Did you use the gear from the GN governor? It should be a caramel color. If not, that's why the speed is off. What color gear was on the governor you put in?

I left the gear intact that was in the transmission. My guess is it was the GN one!

To be honest though I never looked at it so I don't know. It just seems like 35 comes to quickly.

I'm talking about the gear on the governor, not the one on the cable. The gear on the governor drives the gear on the speedo cable. You said you put a governor in from a Monte Carlo and I was wondering if you swapped the gears or were they the same color?

You need the governor gear from a TR which is orange and the speedometer driven gear from a TR. This combo is accurate for a 3.42 rear and 26" tires. Chances are you have the wrong gear on the governor. You will have to drop the pan and change it if you want speedometer accuracy.

well when i bought the assembly it came with a gear on the governor. I assumed it was the right gear coming from the vendor it did. I will have to review, thanks for the feedback.
