Just got Razors progressive alky kit and I need to change the
timing on my MaxEffort. I know there are a lot of variables so
take a look at my combo and tell me what you think would be
a good number for street driving.
My other question is about race timing, I typically run 116 fuel,
23 lbs of boost and 28 degrees timing in race trim. The car
seems happy with that combo and has no knock.
Should I leave the 28 degree positions and continue using
116/no alky at the track? Or choose a different timing for
racing and run the alky at the track.

Drop the timing, and start with the relearning how to tune the car on alcohol.

I always suggest 20-21 degrees as a baseline timing setting. Take it from there watching O2's, EGT's, KR, and your timeslip for how the car is moving down the track. You should be able to run the same boost as you do on race gas with lower timing. You may end up running more boost than you do on race gas, tho the timing will be lower.

Two ways to make power.. boost and timing. find what the limits of the timing is, and find your boost limits. mix and match until the car is fastest. Coupled with fuel pressure.. and amount of alcohol injected.

Some cars respond to 30 PSi at 17 degrees.. or 24 PSI at 28 degrees.. just depends on ....

R&D with Eric Marshall and his chips have revealed that with alky, a progressively lower timing chip for each gear/speed seems to work best to combat KR. On my TTA we found that as the load increases in the higher gears, the alky was not able to supress the detonation enough. With that in mind Eric programmed my chip to lower the timing a few º each gear....KR gone! Currently I'm programmed to run 21.5º-20º-18.5º at WOT. This is with 92 octane and 25 psi locking the TCC in third at ~80mph.

Thanks guys...
I'm sending the chip tomorrow but I'm still not sure what to
put it at. Probably something middle of the road like 19 or 20,
then I'll find the boost that it likes from there.

My car is still in winter storage until April 1 so I'll have to wait.
I'm really looking forward to playing with alky this spring.
:D

As you can see everyones requirements are a little different. Thats the way these cars are with everything. Just for more guideline only my car likes a straight 20 degrees at 26 lbs boost on methanol.
