My 84 gn still has stock module and coil pack. Today when I laid into the throttle I noticed some sputtering and backfiring when the rpms and boost where close to the redlines. From reading previous threads I decided replacing coil pack would be a good place to start. To convert to 86/87 coil pack, I just need a new 86/87 coil pack and a adapter so it will mount to the 84/85 module, right? It looks like kirban doesn't offer the adapter, but poston sells both coil pack and adapter. Is that all I need to do just the coil pack conversion? Also, I am aware that I will need to correctly hook up terminals and plug wires.

Ed should be right- You need the alum plate to attach the coil module to. The alum. plate then bolts onto the stock mounting bracket on the car which you will have to remove. There is also a plastic adapter plate between the coil module and coil pack. I did this conversion last month and can help. Brad

Hmm... I was for some reason under the impression I could just convert to coil pack and and not module because of some earlier threads I looked through. I will have to wait about 3 weeks, but then should have enough budgeted to buy all the parts I need for full conversion. Hey Brad, I saw you posted your phone # in another thread offering help to another member if he needed help when doing this conversion. Would you mind if I gave you call if I run into any problems when doing mine? I promise to call at a decent hour. I should be fine, I just want to be sure I get coil mod to coil pack wiring right. Don't want to take a chance of messing anything up when I go to start.

You can call me which some times is alot easier than typing. All we have to do is setup a time when you are by your car and I am by mine. I would page me during the day at 630-255-0426 or PM me or e-mail me. I do not answer pages after 5.00.I am pretty flexible because I am self employed. Mornings are the best. Brad
