By me:
found a wallet with $480 in Truckee, CA (Tahoe area) filled with all kinds of cards and papers - this guy had this wallet for YEARS. Looked through and found business cards and called him up. When he came to pick it up he looked through it and handed me ALL of the cash in it - I refused, but he insisted. He said the info in that wallet was everything to him and he was well off - did not mind giving me the cash.
It was a great bonus.
someone I know:
My mother in law has a best friend that bought a POS house in a little community outside of Payson, AZ. They went to remodel portions and when busting a wall out they found it filled with coins. They turned out to be 5 dollar gold pieces. My mother in law is a waitress and they have left her handfulls for tips... She knows they are worth some money but thinks they are worth like 25-30 a piece. She gave one to my wife and we looked it up on eBay - they go for over 300 EACH! She must have a hundred of them, and I have no idea how much her friend has.
On the subject of gambling:
First time ever to a non-indian casino - in Atlantic city. I was working in Pleasantville (about 5 miles outside of A.C.) and we decided to go check it out. We went with 500 bucks and played for about 3 hours and went bust. On the way out, my wife says "play this game real quick, an old couple were playing here forever and never hit". So I play the one and on the second pull I hit for $650. Then, while waiting to get paid for it, I play the one next to it and hit IT for $650! Well, we couldn't leave then, so I went back and learned the lovely game of roulette.
Walked out 12 hours later with over 5 grand in my pocket. I LOVE all night gambling binges! I have NOT, however, been able to even come close to duplicating that luck. I always break even or lose now...
My wife hit for 4 grand at Fort Mcdowell here in AZ a while back, about 2 weeks before Xmas too. That was a life saver.
