Motorcyclists..Tag mounting question for NC

Florida has passed a law to horizontal mount your license tag.

Taking a few bikes to North Carolina and am curious if they have the same requirements.

Anyone know?

Unsure, but I have seen quite a few with the relocation kit that moves the tag to under the seat. Basically in the fender, infront of the tire. If they can get away with that here then a vertical tag should be no problem. Especially if it's an out of state tag.

Some out of state troopers know the laws of neighboring states in regards to plate location. i'd go to the website if you have a chance and check it out. i'm sure you have no intentions of breaking the law there but it would be a good thing to check it out 1st before you try it. i ride a bike and considered changing the tree that holds my tags. If anything just make sure you have a license plate light. no need to bring yourself unwanted attention or the hassle of some small town sherriff or trooper who's bored and see if your in the percentage he's looking for that are up to no good. i've had a few run in's and just because i may fit into a certain critetia or what ever may catch the eye of a local or state police officer. They seem to want to run my through the ringer and try and come up with anything that may look funny. but then again sometimes these guys get lucky and find the drug runner or someone who's just up to no good. it's a numbers game with these guys, ask any officer and they'll tell you a certain percent has something or is doing something they shouldn't be into.

Thanks for the replies.

All my bikes are customs and all have vertical mount tags. I changed the ones staying in Florida. Hoping I didn't have to change the others too.
