I had brought my car to atco raceway last Tuesday....I only made one pass because it was pretty crowded and I got there late..This is what the timeslip looks like.....

|R/T .620
60' 1.645
330 5.030
1/8 7.911
mph 86.69
990 10.312
1/4 12.371
mph 106.50

See the sig for setup...Just wondering if this mph looks kinda low..Im happy with the progress of the car to this point..I do nothing to it but it runs better every time I take it to the track...Seat Time...Priceless..;) ..Please give me your thoughts as to the Et..vs mph...Thanks...Shawn

When I was going 12.20's, I was going 110-112mph. Plus, you have a good 60' time, so that will make your e.t lower and your mph slower. I was getting mid-high 1.7's with the above time.

What convertor are you using?

It is the stock convertor..And I was really suprised at the 60ft time...All the suspension is stock Just a set of 305-50-16 M&H Racemasters@18psi..on the stock rims...

Is the trans slipping? Did it shift into OD? Did you get Knock in third? You are down about 4+ mph from what it should have run, given the rest of the run. Wierd.

The 1/8 mile ET looks good, but that is a resultf the good 60' time. Your 1/8 mile MPH should have been around 92-94 mph with that kind of ET. You gained 20 MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4, that also seems kinda low as well. If your not locking the converter, you might try that. Seems that with a good 60' such as this one, you would have seen better MPH all around. Typically I run 8.0's in the 1/8 at 93-94 MPH, and run 12 teens at 118 to 119 MPH with ****ty 2.0x short times at 24 psi and a TE44. Maybe your tranny is slipping??? How are your O2's? EGT? Any KR?

I think his E.T. and MPH are right on for his combo. He's running a TA49 turbo but still using a 93 chip and only 20 psi boost. I think 106 MPH is about right with that combo. If he were to go to a race chip and crank the boost to 21-22 he would then get to 109-110. As for the E.T., his great 60 ft time is what contributed to that. With a 1.75 60 ft. his E.T. would have been in the mid 12.50s. Sounds like all is normal so far.

Hmmm, with a TE44, JC 93 street chip, OE injectors, pump gas with alky injection, stock exhaust, and LOW 2.xx short times, my car pulled 116 MPH every pass @ 20 psi! Turn the boost up to 24-25 psi and it ran HIGH 118-119 MPH passes back-to-back. With the same combo as above and the OE turbo, also @ 20 psi, it ran 111 MPH all day long as well. This is with a 1-2 psi launch on radials and locking the converter at the line. My EGT meter never went above 1600º the entire night. With that in mind, my opinion was based on his cars' inability to make at least 92 MPH in the 1/8, or to run in the teens in the 1/4. Must be a tuning issue...probably running fat or knocking.

yes your MPH is VERY low for a street chip or a race chip-

lots of stock TTA'S easily run high 112mph with the stock turbo, and your car has a ta49-

some cars are even good for 115+ with the stock turbo, but that is tough to do, and the moon and stars must be aligned perfectly in the 3rd quarter :)

granted you are getting a good sixty foot, the car should mph 112 with that sixty, a street chip, and 20 psi of boost- and the convertor locked-

as joe said, only gaining 20 mph between the 1/8th and 1/4 is not showing horsepower-

does your car take to long to shift to second gear???
my car did this, it would sixty foot well, then nose over, like the car was losing power right after the hook, it was picking up false knock from the downpipe and retarding the timing-

HTH

turn up the boost, and get some race gas- :)

oh yeah joe, i just picked that chip up from you 20 minutes ago, ITS MINE NOW BABY!!!

you aint getting it back :D  ahahhahhahahh

yup that chip is worth its weight in gold 10 times hehehehe

ill get it back to you asap- thanks

Joe, you'll notice, if you compare your car's numbers to ANYONE else's you'll find you have a particularly unique car that mph's much higher than is usual for your ET's, so it's not really fair to expect his to run like that.

The fact that you run those kinds of numbers with a TE44, and only 20# of boost makes it even more "unique".

Actually his numbers are not that far out of line for what he's running, and not locking the TCC.

How about mine?????

60' 1.808
330 5.212
1/8 8.113
mph 84.34
1000 10.649
1/4 12.811
mph 103.41

Original valve springs and ds header cracked. Stock convertor.
20 psi boost and Thrasher 108 chip.

Ron the difference in your combo are you don't have 3.23 gears or the aerodynamics of a TTA. 103 is about right for a TR needing valve springs with an unlocked TC, as this equates to right around 4800-5000 RPM with 26" tires: Where HP takes a nosedive.

Fix the problems you have and 106+ should be in the bag.

Thanks to everyone for the response....I havent locked the convertor in the car yet..But will try that,,Nor have I uncapped the dump pipe..I do think that my trans is taking a dump though..Driven normal..It shifts ok..But when you jump on it..You would swear It was a 1 speed tranny..Cannot feel the shift and can barely hear it...Changed fluid and filter added extra fluid...Nothing helped..I dont know if the tranny had a shift kit installed at some time..So I will need to take it to someone to look over....Thanks..Shawn

adjust your TV cable towards the firewall for firmer shifts-

if the car has a higher stall speed, that always seems to soften the shifts -

do you have a tranny cooler, an tranny temp gauge?

bruce toelle (sp) sells a fitting that goes inline with your trans lines, making it EASY to install a trans temp gauge that is getting accurate temp readings-

ps- try and find out if the car already has a shift kit in it now-

I was in your situation a while back. Low 12's with mph in the 103 to 106 range. Now this is what I did and it may not do the same for you, but here's my experience. I was running the stock elbow with a pos budget 3" 2pc dp. I switched to a 3" integrated dp like the THDP, MPE,ATR etc. Just that change alone I went from 12.280 @ 106 to 11.79 @ 113mph. My thinking was the stock elbow was strangling the motor on top end past the 1/8th. Also, the stock elbow was unported and covered the exhaust wheel about a ¼ inch most of the way around ( PTE-52 ). You have to be able to get the air out as well as in and in my case it was a severe bottleneck. Like I said, THIS WORKED FOR ME, BUT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU. Just needed to clarify that because you may have different issues than I had. HTH

it also helps to let the car cool off between passes-

i always cycle the motor over a few times, and run the heater to get the heat out during passes-

im sure with some tuning, race gas, race chip, your car will really wake up on the top end-

im thinking that 20 psi of boost with the TA-49/TE44 is pretty close to the same performance level with the stock turbo set at 22 or 23 psi-

you need to get that TA-49 turbo in its sweet spot of 23-24 psi and watch your car come alive-
