You are right GNXs are overated. Cool car but too nice to really give it a go. Best kept as a collector's item. Rather own a built 87 Turbo T Limited, sleeper for sure.

Anyway stock for stock a TTA will hang and most of the time beat a GNX, we all know that but we don't care.

Just like the TTA is a half-breed car. Hell most of us TTA owners have the red-headed step child syndrome but we are all Buick brothers.

Feel the love...

a 283 with 4:56 gears should be a hell of ride out of the hole.
I had a 283 in my 1974 SS Nova, 3.41 pos, close-ratio 4-speed, etc. Beat alot of big blocks and other cars, but no top end obviously. I would generally suprise most people thru 2nd gear anyway, fun car.

Oh yeah, Geno . Almost everyone here has or still owns other types cars.
How in the HELL do you think we found out how much fun a Buick could be??

TO BE THE MAN....YOU GOT TO BEAT THE BUICK....

Words to live by

Later...

Sorry >>>>>>you have to be so LOUD about it
I know im not the only one to ever own a fast car and there is a lot faster than me!!!! I will keep my mouth shut:o
Im crawling back under my rock:p

First of all, I just want to say all of you who think the GNX is overated are probably just jelous. They are not overated. If you've ever owned one you'd know. Second, I can't remember ever hearing about a TTA handing a GNX it's a$$.

I don't know why these guy's with Impalla's, mustang's and import's come on here and trash a rare collectible car like a GNX. If I had the cash I would own a GNX but that is a mute point so I own a 1987 GN that would beat the crap out of a STOCK GNX. Notice I said stock since nobody in their right mind would butcher up a rare car like a GNX!!! As far as this guy running 11.89@109 I would be glad to accept his invitation to race. I haven't been to the track yet so I don't know my E.T. but at the old strip from high school which happens to be 1/4 mile length between fields I've run several passes at 113 m.p.h. at just 18-19 lbs. of boost! I can only imagine running 24 lbs. of boost and powerbraking at 10 lbs. off the line with some drag radials instead of 235 60-15's!!! Oh yea Mr. Impala, does your car have air, tilt, cruise control, power locks and windows, nice stereo and get 24 m.p.g. ? NUFF SAID!!!

What does a bone stock GNX run? i've personally seen a bone stock TTA run a 13.38

Rumor is it ran 13.1 off the showroom floor, But don't quote me.

a 13.1??? what's different about the GNX engine wise? i know 16'' tires and supension...but whats different in the engine?

i know one thing it has the tta didnt a bigger exhaust housing. .82 i believe.

I saw a real GNX a few months back. He raced my escort. Um I mean I raced him and he just gave me a big smile at the next red lite when I said " hey thats a Nice GNX, I have a TTA at home"
He was surprised I even knew what A GNX was. THe only problem is that he was from a differnbt county and I neve seen him again.

yeah i forgot about that, how about the actual engine? same heads same cam and all that right?

GNX

1) above post

2) intercooler has a slightly higher fin per area count, making it a little more efficient at removing heat from the air charge

3)ECM contains a slightly improved calibration, which capitalizes on the more efficient components above. The maximum boost is increased to 15psi

4)oxygen sensor is upgraded to an AFS-22, which is able to tolerate more exhaust heat than a stock AFS-20

5)Intake pipe- the "up pipe" between the intercooler and throttle body is treated with a heat-resistant paint called "ceramatel"

6)Exhaust- a specific 2-1/4" dual exhaust system was added to clear the new suspension cross member. Instead of the stock "crossflow" muffler, 2 separate small mufflers were used.

7)the transmission is basically the same Turbo Hydramatic 200-4R as the Grand National except for some recalibration of the hydraulics

8)ASC added an aluminum transmission oil cooler in front of the radiator

...in addition to the ceramic impellar turbo. :D

We all know this person was a misguided individual (initiator of thread), and I can respect that. But these topics are getting off what this area is intended for. This area is for Kill/Fish stories, although I understand getting some back ground on one of the greatest cars ever built there is a area for such discussions, please utilize it, thanks.
