I pulled my Buick out of the garage, drove up the street, stopped talked to my friend for 10 mins when the car was running, then pulled out and like whenever it starts to spool or wants to spool....it starts bogging down and won't go anywhere......any ideas? I checked all the vaccum hoses, and around the turbo, nothing seems to be outa place. It ran fine all the way up to my friends...and I didn't get on it to like break anything. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just a shot in the dark, but my car did the same thing and it turned out to be the mas airflow sensor.

same here, replace the mass air flow sensor.A bad or malfunctioning MAF will make the TR sputter and turbo bog like a mofo.

Also, when I started my car today to back it out of the garage to check it out again, the boost was jumping around alot in the vaccum when i was reversing, also bogging down. If it put it in park it idles fine...still searching thanks for the help guys.

Anyone know where I can buy a stock MAF for my 1986 TR? Turns out it did go out but I can't find the Denso stock replacement ones...

You can go to the Auto parts store and buy a Reman, 50-50 chance that you will get one that works. Thats what ive got. No telling if the BLM's will go high enough. Don't buy there brand new one, wont work.

****If it's in your budget to do so, upgrade to a MAF Translator and get one of the newer and bigger MAF's from an LT1, ZO6, etc... The newer MAF's are much more rugged, more easily available, and with the Translator/Extender setup can provide you with some other benefits like adjusting timing and air/fuel ratio, anti-theft, better gas mileage from lean-cruise, etc... Do a search on the subject if you like.

I have the Translator setup with the Extreme Chip, etc.. and couldn't be happier with it. I still have my old MAF as backup, but have never had a problem with the new setup once I upgraded.

One other thought is the wastegate solenoid. If it fails, you get too much OR too little boost.

One tip on checking the MAF: While it's idling, knock on the MAF with a screwdrive handle. If it stumbles, the MAF is bad.

Do you get any ECM codes?

Yes whenever I knock on the MAF, it bog's down, which has concluded to me that it has to be it. Thanks for the advice.
