The battery is not going to be your problem. The ecm only needs 9.6 volts to function, it may not work well, but it will work. You can also try a compression test to see if valve timing is off. If it only jumped a couple of teeth you may not catch it, but the nylon gears on the cakm have a tendencie to shear off causing a BIG change in valve timing. Also try checking for spark at different cyl, and make sure the noid light is flashing as the engine turns over. If the noid light just comes on, then yes its getting power but with no signal to fire (I think its a switching ground signal? coming from the cam sens.). If all of this doesn't get you anywhere, you could also check for a massive exhaust blockage (ie converter?), but I will tell you now I have only seen this once out of hundreds of no starts. But make sure you have the BASICS covered first. Best of luck, let me know what the culprit ends up being.;)

Also, regardless you should throw a set of plugs at it, and change the oil as soon as it starts. The unburnt fuel will thin the oil in the crankcase, making it as useful as tits on a bull. By the way, have you thrown any parts at it yet?

Compression + Fuel + Spark = explosion. Not necessarily when you want it but something. The valve timing on my WE4 was off big time once (don't make me explain why) and it wouldn't start but it would blow raw fuel (smoke) out of the intake and pop once in a while, like it was firing, just not at the right time. If your valve timing was off and that is all, I think it would be making some noise besides just cranking over.
