Im new the whole turbo Buick scene. I recently purchased a nice low milage 85 GN and installed an Alky Control kit with turbo tweak chip. On my first test drive with everything else stock and unchanged, I had an explosion in my intake which pretty much destroyed the turbo and caused a major oil leak which I have yet to dig into and identify. I limped home about a mile and haven't had the time to dig in and do much checking yet. The leak is at the front for the engine and Im suspecting the intake gasket is blown out and the oil must be coming through the turbo seals. The detonation happened at half throttle. I had been running at around 12 lbs boost prior to this and didnt change anything else. The car ran nicely on 93 octane with a TT chip, but was just a little doggy. Probably I should not have driven yet without a data logger and due diligance- however I got impatient and did it anyway so here I am. I am planning to have the heads ported and install a champion ported intake with Works turbo upgrade along with fuel pump/wiring and supporting mods. Before I dump a bunch money into fixing/ upgrading, I want to have a better understanding of what caused the problem- has anybody had this happen out there?

More than likely the Alky was not flowing and you blew a head gasket into the valley.
I don't own a Hot-Air car but I have blown head gaskets more than once. Good Luck

You need to figure out what is broken
Compression test
Pull the plugs,
Look at the oil etc
The you need to see things like fuel pressure afr knock etc.
Logging is after the fact

Update: that is my post but I lost my password so I set up another username.... ANYHOW on further investigation (I was slammed at work [concrete construction] and had no time to check things out when I posted) It appears the honeycomb screen in my MAF sensor somehow crumbled and a decent sized piece went through the turbo, wrecking the compressor wheel and evidently created enough of a spark to ignite the alcohol being sprayed into the manifold. (actually unseating the turbo from the bell) Now it all makes sense- or does it? I could not for the life of me think of any reason for spark of any kind to end up in the intake manifold unless IDK maybe a bad ignition module? I am probably the first guy in history to have this happen and Im proud of that but is there anything else I need to be concerned with checking before I sink the money into fixing things which on a brighter note is the perfect excuse to upgrade the turbo port the heads put in a champion intake, 3" down pipe and basically just go bananas
