Ok well here's what my trans has normally been like..(keep in mind it has a 2400 stall converter and a shift kit.)
Well I would drive down the road and it would usually shift into 2nd gear around 3000RPM or 30MPH..it never really shifted before that.
And if Im doing 25 mph (which means it hasnt shifted) and I take my foot off the gas and coast..the next time I step on the gas the engine would rev up from around 1300 rpm to 2700 or so and then it would start pulling.
Well today I changed chips to see if it would help the recent gas mileage problem I've been having. Well I changed the chip, went for a ride (shifted like usual the whole time) so then I leave for work and it's like usual..I get halfway there and leave the light..and suddenly the trans DOESNT want to shift..I won't leave 1st gear..if I keep my foot on it you can hear the engine screaming. So I pulled into a lot and put it in park for alittle bit..then I put it in OD and went down a street and it STILL didnt shift..I pull back into the same lot and put it into D and it didnt shift then either..Well luckily my friends shop is right down the road from where I was..and also luckily I called work and they didnt want me to come in. Well my car is still at the shop now and they have some kinda scantool that they might use on it tonight to see if it throws some codes.
But have any of you guys experienced this or do you know what the problem is??
I just hope it's somethin simple..or somethin that I don't hafta spend alotta money on..but how often does that happen?? heh..
Thanks for any help

I forgot to add that 2 weeks ago the trans fluid was changed, the oil was changed and the engine was flushed..
We checked tran fluid right away and for some reason it was somewhat low, so we filled it back up and it still didn't help..

Its possible a spring came off and is sitting in the bottom of the pan. I think your tranny has been suspect for some time because you have been blaming that stall converter a lot and it is so close to stock you shouldnt notice any difference. I would drop the pan and take a look

check the fluid HOT and in park. Il bet it still low. Overfill it a pint or so too

Ok well we found a deal on a stock trans and torque converter for $300.
If we can get some kinda warranty with it then I'm gonna get it.

Did you drop the pan and check it first? Also is this $300 tranny out of a TR? The olds/chevy/pontiac 200r4 is different and has a different torque converter

As mentioned above, drop the trans pan first. It could possibly be something less than what you think. But on the other hand, well, you know........
