My media player stinks!

What can I do to update or improve my media player? Whenever I download a video and try to watch it, it's very "jerky." Most of the time the audio is ok but every now and then it does the same thing. Please help!

dont know what media player you are using, but windows media player (plays all types of media) is free if i am not wrong, have used it for a few years, i updated when it tells me i can/need to...

some videos suck, but i think thats more a case of the video, not the player.....

I would check to see what is running in the background, you may have something running that is using up a lot of your system resources

agree with the above. Also, there are some alternative players that are free. You're going to think I'm lying but one is called bsplayer. no, really. it is. bsplayer. it's pretty good. if you have 2k/xp you may also want to try running 'mplayer2.exe' instead of windows media player (wmplayer.exe). mplayer2 is the old style player that 95/98 had, and is a little bit trimmer than WMP.
