HELP

samsung lcd 1080p 120hz.

the 120hz tv you can get cheaper than the 240hz new tvs. its really hard to see that difference also, so its a good buy. huge difference though between the 60hz and the 120hz, so forget the 60hz.

for price and performance , kinda hard to beat.

There was a thread on this section about 3 or 4 weeks ago for the same question. Had some good responses. In general, pretty hard to go wrong with a Samsung. HTH

I would have to agree, ten years ago i thought nothing beat sony, no offense to sony. About four years ago I got into HD TV's big time and did all kinds of research, and ended up buying one of the first 1080p tv's around, a samsung dlp 56".

Well current day, that samsung is still our main tv in my living room, and it should be antiquated, but to be honest, the picture still blows away our brand new panasonic 1080p lcd tv.

From the last four years of experience, it would be hard to make a bad choice on a samsung imo, even if you have to spend a little extra.

If you like a brighter picture I would shy away from the plasmas, and concentrate on the lcds, or leds.

LCD, 1080P, 120Hz.
If you get those, it should be pretty good.
We got a 28" Hannspree (120 Hz), my brother-in-law said that our picture (for the Eagle's game) is better than his 42" at 60 Hz (?).

i want to order a TV today this is my front runner

LG 50PK950 50-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV @ $ 1,099.77 plus tax.

C-nets Rating LG Infinia 50PK950 Review - Flat-panel TVs - CNET Reviews

Consumer reports gives its lesser model LG50PK750 a rating of "82 excellent" and rates it higher then most LCD/LEDs in its price range.
Cnet GIVES the LG 50PK950 model a HIGHER rating then what it gave the LG 50PK750.

any of you guys have one of these.

As mentioned everywhere. The plasma screen is similar to mirror and shows all reflections especially lights. I can't stand that, so I do not have a plasma.

2 things to look for when buying a tv 1-contrast ratio-the higher the better. 2.- hz rating-(plasmas are 600hz standard- high end lcd & lcd/led combos are 240hz. and yes plasmas do reflect light on the screen but if you look so do lcds..plasmas are better for a low light room.. and motion blur which lcds will always suffer from bugs me worse than a little possible reflection.. don't get totally hung up on one being 1080p if its contrast ratio and hz rating is lower than a similar model a 720/780p tv with higher contrast and hz rating will look better, but being a 1080p does help a little.

my personal brand preference is samsung or LG.. samsung on the lcd and hands down the lg on the plasma.. i own a 42in lg plasma 720/780p 600hz and 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio and LOVE IT.. i would put this tv up against ANY LCD on picture quality and still looks as good as the 1080p plasmas imo.. i kind of tongue in check laugh everytime i see the stuff wal mart sells too.. don't buy a tv there either imo they carry the brands bottom of the line models where the specs are concerned .. don't believe me do a little research/homework.. i did..go to best buy or a local tv business like i had the fortune of doing they usually carry the higher end of a brands model.

just my 2 cents!

Well I'm gonna give you a laugh David. My TV dumped on me last night. I have one I'll be using for now and will wait until the day after Christmas to get one. That will be the time to buy one if you can wait.

you have a tv... OMG.... j/k:biggrin: I really didnt know tvs took a dump. Ive had the same tv since i was little and it works just fine. I sleep with the tv on all night and it doesnt flicker or anything. The vcr on it crapped out when a friend stuck a bad VHS in it, but thats what the flatscreen LCD is for:biggrin: IMO the more "p" the better, however 480p is more user friendly with current electronic setups.
