TODAY I WENT TO SEE THE OLD CARS PRE 1976 SHOW/RACE AT NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY. I HAD MANY PEOPLE COME OVER TO MY T WHEN THE LUNCH BREAK CAME.
MY FRIEND WITH THE DUSTER WAS MAD CAUSE NOBODY WAS LOOKING AT HIS CAR. i WILL HAVE TO WAIT 11 MORE YEARS BEFORE I AM ALLOWED TO RACE LOL!

you need a better camera phone  I looked at a lot of nice old beaters ... I think that crowd couldn't be bothered looking at the race/bracket cars. to me it's like watching paint dry :p

I don't know why it was such an low showing for street cars to race other than the cutoff year is too early. I can see the race cars on any Saturday or Sunday. There were a few true street cars having some fun. The guy with the 65 GTO we had met a cruise night in Fitchburg a month ago. He doesn't mind thrashing his. I don't care if they aren't an 11 second car either, it's just fun to see something besides a Chevelle/Camaro/Nova go down the track. I talk to so many cruise night people that have lots of "go fast" parts that have a "10 second" car but won't race it because "I don't want to break it" or it's too "rare" or some other silly excuse. Then I ask if they ever got on it getting on the highway and they say yes. I think the real reason is they are afraid to find out all the money they spent got them a car .5 second faster than stock.

That reminds of me this lady that comes to my friends restaurant on the weekends. She has a beautiful 1967 Chevelle SS with a mini-tub, two stage 250 HP shot of nitrous, and a built 427. Her friends will do all the bragging for her, the people at the restaurant ask me if that car is faster than my GN. It should be by all means seeing as how at the time I was running a stock bottom end stock transmission GN. Her friends would say "yeah, this is a 10 second car" or "it will smoke that Buick".

When I actually got a chance to talk to her I find out the car was just built to be built. She will never take it to the track and has never had it dyno'd. It was funny though, she took one look at my GN and said "those are quick cars, you would probably beat me in a race". :o

The difference between my car and her car is now that her car still runs and mine is blown up sitting in the garage due to (takes a deep breath) RACING.
