Mystery connector near radio

The other day I had to take out my radio and stumbled across a connector
in the dash that I have no idea of what it is for ?

It looks like it maybe a light socket or something and didnt appear to have anything to
do with the radio.
Can someone tell me what it is for ?

Never would have thought of that.
I have the electronic heater controls and never noticed it.

If you have a console and floor shift it's the light bulb socket for the ash tray on a NON floor shift car.

Its definitley not the light for the ash tray on column shift cars after seeing the pictures I would agree with the light socket for the HVAC controls.
