I yanked off the TA 49 yesterday and replaced it with something that I know is bigger but I'm not sure exactly what it is! I know thats not too smart but I was bored. So anyway I took the car out for a ride after it was done and noticed right away how much quicker it spools up. Its a tire burner now, but I have one question from the membership. Should I see a different boost level on the gauge with the bigger turbo? I had it set at 20lbs. when I had the TA49 on and now it was hittin 17-18 with the bigger turbo. I never touched the boost controller and the temperature was similar to the other night?

I am going to assume that the car has to have some type of converter in it....There shouldnt really be any bigger turbo that would spool quicker than a 49 on a stock converter...Probably even on a Aftermarket converter....Two Things....

1...I would make sure that this turbo is in fact bigger than the 49...(Measure the wheels)Exducer/Inducer...And look here at precisions website to see if you can match the wheel sizes up....http://www.precisionturbo.net/turbochargers-display.php?company_id=101795&category_id=3022

2...If in fact it is bigger...(Which could be the case..But I doubt)...I think it's time for you to get some bigger Injectors...Dont think 36's will cut it on anything over a 49/44.

Could be the WG hole is ported out more on this turbo allowing more air to exit the hole when the WG opens. Maybe getting some spike before allowing boost to exceed the spring tension in the actuator.

thanx for the response

I agree it needs more fuel... I have 50's but there on the shelf in the garage(good place right) I just found out the guys name that bought the turbo new so I'll be finding out exactly what the size is. Thanx for the feedback

Boost

A larger turbo will spool at a lower boost with the same wastegate setting. "Reason" it requires more exhaust volume to spool a larger turbo all things being the same in your combo. But it will also create more power at a lower boost level.
