I’m still (after twenty years) fixing all the residual damage a stereo hack caused many decades ago.

Pictured is the piece that is directly under the steering column. The hole in it is where the re-located driver’s side rear view remote control is, instead of in the door where it should be (so big speaker pods could be installed on the lower door panels, which were apparently cut with a carpenter’s saw).

Does anyone know what this piece is officially called and if replacements are available? I know its referred to as the nut chiller, but I bet there is a proper name for it.

I haven’t been able to locate this specific style, as I am looking for a replacement in burgundy.

Also, does the A/C hose plug directly into the vent or am I missing a piece?

Thanks.

I think it's just called a steering column cover or maybe lower steering column cover, and yes the black AC hose plugs onto the circular end of the vent. Your cover is different than the one in my '87 GN, so it may be from an earlier model Regal, or another G-body line altogether ... Good luck in your search ...

Thanks John. Mine is an 87 also, so I would think it would be the same…

I have one but I think it was off an 84/85. Don't know is the shade is the same
There's interior paint for that.... :) Where it's located, it would be very hard to tell if the color was just a little off. They have some really good ones out there. I can vouch for Highway Stars Dark Blue....

This. Don't get hung up on the color. That's easy to fix. Get the right shape and a can of adhesion promoter and burgundy paint off Amazon. Scuff it with a scotchbrite pad and shoot it.
