Name this turbo?

There is really no way of telling by just looking at the housing since many turbos can be in the same housing, and the numbers cast into the housing are all the same since it just describes what type of compressor housing it is..

It is like a small block chevy.... you may have two small blocks, but one is badder than the other and you can't always tell by looking.

you would have to measure the wheels to determine what size turbo it is.

However, that is the same housing as the stock turbo, so I would be inclined to think it is stock. Is there anything that leads you to believe that it is not stock?

When my dad bought the car he was told it was running a TA-49. Recently he had some work done. The same mechanic that sold him the car said it was a stock turbo.

At any rate, the turbo needs to be rebuilt what options does he have?

Thanks

Id buy another used turbo they usually run the same price or in the vicinity as a rebuild.....or get it rebuilt Ive heard $300-500 on a rebuild

Ive never had one built myself

Mine has the exact same stampings on it and I've yet to find out exactly what model it is.
