ok this cop told my dad about a guy in NASCAR back in the early 90s that built an engine for his race car but without 2 pistons and b/c it was a 6 cylinder it was faster then all the other V8 cars out there and they didnt find this out till they tore down the motor. i never heard anything lke this and want to know if someone can tell me wtf this guy was talking about.
 
:confused: I dunno, but until a few years ago the Busch Grand National cars ran 6 cylinder engines.

Sounds like a confused bit of what did happen.

In the 70s-80s the NASCAR inspectors measured the displacement of just one cylinder by measuring how much air it pumped. So after a while of seeing them only check the same cylinder they would make it and it's opposite cylinder the same size and then the other 6 larger, and sometimes really much larger. On some of the races where the 2-3 place cars would all of sudden have power to pass is because for the first 495 miles the driver was sand bagging it.
