need to tighten up my stearing column where it tilts i have the stearing wheel off cant figure out how to get any futher

the finned plate has to be removed, also the turn signal switch plastics inside looks ivory in color and its three of them to tighten if i remember right. Its not too bad but harder than the ignition switch. I paid to have mine did last time because I didnt want to do it again if you get my drift;)

If you do it yourself go get the tool to depress the plate so you can remove the retaining ring. The $10 it'll cost you (max) is so worth it it's not even funny.

i saw the ring , they make a tool to depress the plate? where do you get one and is it hard to get the rest of it out and back in ?

Some of it can be a pain but it's not that bad. (that's my opinion) An exploded diagram is helpful. The tool has a center portion that screws onto the stud and then a horseshoe looking piece that gets pushed down against the plate. You can get them at autozone, shucks/kragen, or just about any other chain parts store. They usually run around $10.

No problem,

If you get in a bind I can scan my service manual and email you some pice but I wouldn't be able to do that until sometime next week. I'm sure you could probably find what you need on gnttype. Good luck. james
