I'm building a SS car, want to run a 200 trans & converter, need all the latest good stuff in the tranny. 10% strip use but making big HP, looking to run low 11's or better. No trans brake launches. Lock up or not? I've been away from the TR World for awhile. I know some savy tranny guys are here. Thanks. GB

I would vote Lock up. We have the latest in technology with this trans. Pioneers if you will. Look who uses our stuff exclusively. Vince Janis, Mike Kurtz, Don Wang, Rossler trans, Gearstar perf, Brian Hofer now, and of course Russ Merritt. In Canada, Auto Pital is our source. Also, our newest vendor, Trackside Automotive in Pompano Beach Florida 954-946-4043 just became an exclusive vendor, and several others that I am sorry if I left out. If I left you out, chime in and explain why you use our stuff. If I didn't leave you out, still, chime in and explain why. Pretty damn good list of quality guys! AND there is a reason for this. I am sure by now you will have figured out why they pay a little more for the superior quality. NOBODY has our quality!
Do some research. We can provide you with a trans that will hold every bit of what you want to do. Our 2004r's are among the best, bar none. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Ask around before purchasing. We are here to answer any and all of your questions. Please visit this link for history of PTS.

I can vouch for WE4's (Bruce) stuff!!!!! I've got several of his billet parts in mine, and absolutely cannot break this tranny. It's been going strong now for for over 6 years!!!!!

Big horsepower equals Turbo 400.

If ur building big power I would just do a turbo 400 and if U have to have the overdrive then u need a gear vendors unit. Now thats gonna hold up for sure.

+1. Even though Bruce and his vendors can build a killer 200, it won't break but it'll still will wear out. The 200 does not have the clutch surface compared to a 400.

This is of course my opinion.

I understand about the TH 400 clutch area. My car will be mostly street driven so the 2004R would better meet my needs. Thanks to all the responses. I'll be in touch when the tranny is out. Also I'll need a good TC to match the trans. I too like the L/U provision as the drum breakage is mostly now a thing of the past. A good external tranny cooler will also be installed and one not using the radiator tank cooler at all. I believe heat is the biggest tranny killer. IMHO GB
