As stated in a previous thread, my PT54 is now junk and I need to give the shop an answer as to what turbo i want.

I think I have it narrowed down to either the 4431 or the 6031. What are the advantages/disadvantages of either and which one would I be happier with? The car usually runs on a 24-26 PSI tune with alky, however it doesn't have more than break-in miles with the new billet roller cam, T&D 1.55's and ported, big valve heads....I'm expecting some decent power out of this and I'd like a nasty street car....shooting for low 11's

6031 unless you like mid boost compressor surge. I have a 44 and a 51 that do this. I am selling the 51 so I can get into a 61mm comp wheel.

of the two, 6031. Curious as to why you're not going bigger? you have enough converter for a 67BB plus it's a nice complement to those heads. You might be able to get away with a 67 in a std/journal bearing also with that converter.

I actually don't know how big I'd like to go, as I want something very streetable and I don't have a ton of $$$ to throw at this right now (just bought a house, starting a business, etc)

My only other option that I have really been thinking about is this....my friend and fellow board member has a dual BB 61 P-trim that has been new in the bag for like 2 years, but it has the 4 bolt housing. He would sell it to me for $1000, but I would have to change my setup to accomodate the water and oil cooled setup, along with getting a 3-bolt housing.

I like the idea of only spending $595 on the 6031-E, but I'm intrigued with the dual BB 61 also.

I would forget the BB and go with the new 6262 billet wheel turbo and their under 900.00..

I'm upgrading from a TA-49 to one of the TE-60's that's on sale through some of the vendors (i.e.-gbodyparts). Just FYI, via Precision Turbo, the 61 compressor wheels are on backorder but they expect to have a new shipment coming in soon.

Sounds like you're getting on the Hartline Turbo Sale right now for $600 shipped.

I think the biggest one on sale is that 6031 so get it, with your mods this turbo will rip on the street.

Your setup can handle a 62/65 but I see you've got a lot on your plate financially.

I think the 6031 will be good for what I want.....I'd love to have the top of the line, best of the best, unfortunately I fear I am coming to that age where blowing all the unaccounted for money on the car is coming to an end.

Damn I hate growing up....I was a go back to the college days when I was just a kid with a Turbo Buick and a LS1 F-body, each car got a new mod twice a month, I couldn't decide which one to drive downtown on Friday night looking for tail.....life was good.

With the converter you have, the 6031 would be ideal.

I have some in stock ;)
