okay everyone be nice to me on this one.

I have a 84 Regal 3.8 NA.
Local shop wants $2000.00 for a crate motor installed and 3year warrenty.
Should I go with the local shop or buy a 350 (Buick) and re-build it.

Not looking for mega horsepower.

Also a friend just wrecked her 87 Buick , insurance company totaled it and she is giving it to me.
How hard it it to transfer from colum shift to on the floor shifter ?

Remember be nice I am new to this BUICK thing let alone re-doing a car.

Welcome aboard,

The crate motor idea sounds pretty good. $2000 for just the motor is a deal, not to mention all the labor. If you can afford to have the car down for awhile, rebuilding an engine and putting it in yourself is fun, and a great learning experience (speaking from experience here).

Thanks for the fast reply

But after spend 2 days reading about all he swaps and header and intake and 4 barrel carb talk........
If I went with the local shop here and then later got a 4.1 intake carb combo I just blew the warrt.

Another question them

This is about headers.

If I deside to get headers for this 3.8 NA motor.......
can I run a true dual exhaust on my 84 Buick?

You know pipes on each side with 2 seperate mufflers and all?

Remember I know nothing about what I am talking about!

Just shouting out ideas
