I just installed my new switch panel and want to test it to make sure I have everything wired up correctly before I complete the job. The engine is out of the car right now and I have the battery terminals connected. What do I need to hook up to complete the circuit to have my electric work? Right now the positive cable isnt hooked up to anything (no starter, no alternator). Do I need to plug the alternator in? What about grounds? The neggative cable is already grounded to the body.

im no expert but...

i think if you connect the alt output wire to bat+ it should work??? just tape em together:confused: oh and disconnect your fuel pump so u dont get a hi octane bath;)

I was thinking if I connect the battery cable to the alternator post, then plug the factory wire harness into the alternator, I should be ok.

And BTW, disconnecting the fuel pump was the first thing I did before trying to get the electrical to work!

i believe that the alt output wire is the main feed for the entire electrical system so if u get power to it and have the battery grounded u are good to go.....i dont believe having the alternator in the circuit is necessary but it will work that way also...

Plugging the alternator in won't do any good. You need to supply power to the wires that hook up to the large post on the starter. The same one the positive battery cable goes on. Those feed all the electrical system.

Hot wire??

I use a batt charger on the fuse links where they used to be hooked to the starter. Or, U can use a jumper to the links from the batt, and rehook the batt neg to the chassis.
