After my fiasco with my torque convertor and front pump getting messed up, my buddy wanted to check his to see if there was too much clearance. Well, we unbolted the torque convertor and it went back towards the trans about 1/4" so we shimmed between the convertor and flywheel and now it will not shift out of first. So we went back to the way it was and it still will not shift out of first. He would like to go home and I want him outta here...

TIA

How much debris was in the pan? Might have something in the 1-2 shift valve.

Thanks, We got it towed back to his place. I give up trying to do stuff to my car and/or friends cars'. Its not worth it. How I understand how I blew my front pump was because there was too much clearance between it and the torque convertor, now what I am being told is that we blew his front pump because there wasn't enough clearance between it and the torque convertor.

I don't think I will be touching either any time soon, but could someone explain to me the proper procedure to mounting a torque convertor and how much clearance should be between in and the front pump and/or flywheel?

Thanks.

Ron
