Hello, i just bought a 1986 Grand national intercooled from my uncle a couple of days ago, and i have questions to ask you guys!

Question 1: Each time i start up my GN, the engine runs rough at like 3000 rpm and sometimes i goes to 4000 rpm then it goes back down to 3000.. Why is that? the choke dosen't seem to run off.

Question 2: I don't really know how to explain it but there seems to be a hose that connects to these 2 holes, but one is closed with a cap. Here is the picture:

Made a red arrow to show you guys.

Thank you!
dave

I can answer the 2nd question for you. That hose thats missing is not a big deal everyone takes them off and puts a cap on the turbo inlet bell and usually buys a kn breather for the valve cover. It stops the air from going into valve cover and stops oil from going to turbo from the valve cover. So its a good thing.

I have a pitbull stage 1 chip, i asked him and he said to clean the throttle body..

You could have a sticking IAC. Try removing it and cleaning out the hole with q-tips and carb or parts cleaner.

IAC and TPS are set to high, that's why it's idling to high.
Do you have a scanmaster or scan tool? YOU NEED ONE

Use the links provided for the scanmaster. It is a must. Once you hook it up, cycle through the different settings and post them here. You can also spend some time on this site and read alot. You will find lots of answers to your questions as they have mostly all been asked...

I agree that it sounds like the IAC and TPS are off. With the scanmaster you can make some small adjustments and the car should run fine...

Ok,
for the TPS (throttle position sensor) read over this; Adjusting the TPS

The TPS is on the passenger side of the throttle body. Has a 3 wire connector and is directly across from the throttle linkage.

For the IAC (Idle Air Control) read over this; IAC Reset Procedure

The IAC is directly under where the up-pipe from the inter-cooler connects to the throttle body. Has a square, 4 wire connector.

You are going to need a volt meter at the absolute least. To get a Scanmaster, you can go to the source, FULL THROTTLE SPEED - Item Description Page

Are you going by the factory tach? They are notorious for being way off sometimes. When you hook up the scantool, compare the rpm on the scatool to your dash, the scantool will show the correct rpm.

Alright there's another problem now, my car won't start, the engine runs but it dosen't start.. It was starting well now it just dosen't wan't to listen it just turns.

I Cant Believe Your Driving Your Car Now .there Is So Much Snow The City Does Not Know Where To Put It........where In Montreal Do You Live
