can someone help

I'm trying to get d/s working on my buddy's laptop

its a tashiba laptop with xp on it

dumb thing dont have a floppy drive so we burned the floppy to cd and installed it

Its in my documents in a d/s folder I can click on it and open the program but I cant figure out how to pick up the parallel port that its hooked to

can anyone give me instructions for finding the parellel port so it will pick up the info??

please ...:)

It's going to take some doing. Since XP is an NT based program now, and NT never would run DS (has something to do with the way it handles the parallel port), you're in for some work.
I know there's got to be an NT/XP expert here somewhere that can help though. Something to do with dual operating systems I think.

The main reason I've never upgraded my laptop ;)

You might also want to hit the lounge with this thread, it'll get wider coverage.

The easy answer is make a bootable dos disk from a win 95/98 machine. How hard is it going to be to make a floppy work with that laptop?

Dave is right. The issue is parallel port control.

Hmmmm....

yea thats why I listed no floppy..

I think we'll just have to add a floppy drive then try again

Red,

Have you tried runing the ds from the command prompt? I can see where it might not like it inside of XP but it might. Also if you hit F8 on boot up before the Splash screen you can accsess the comand prompt from there also. I would move ds to the root of c and try it there also...Reason for moving it to the root is to have accsess to it easyer form the command prompt....

Worth a try...

Yes WINXP will allow you to dual boot but I have yet been able to get it to load an older ver of WIN9X after the install of XP. Allways been the older ver then Install XP full and there you go dual boot....ON second thought I will try to load WIN 9X form a startup dsk and then modify the config.sys to use the dual boot...
