Need Help Identifing a trans

Hello, I just found out I do not have a orginal trans in my GN. The tag on the back of trans is Turbo Hydromatic BR F 173-872BRF0743. I bought a trans mount for the stock trans, and now everythings out of line.

Sounds like an 87 GN unit to me..

Didn't the stock GN trans have drive and overdrive, because the trans in there now only has drive.

What do you mean it doesn't have OD? There's not one on the shifter indicator or it won't physically go into all of the detent positions?

There is one on the indicator, but it will only shift into drive.

That sounds odd, usually if you connected a 3spd to a 4spd shifter it would work in every position but low(1). I would check the actual detent lever on the tranny, it might be hooked up wrong. Disconnect the cable and count the positions, should count 7 for O/D (P-R-N-OD-D-2-1) and 6 for 3spd.
