Need help, Not a TR, but a Buick!

OK fellas’s, need some help.
Got an 1990 Buick Brougham
The car will run fine and suddenly just shut off on the highway, like an electrical gremlin the way it shuts off. No codes.
It does not shut off, all the time. Stop and go is fine, just once in a blue moon ….. very sporadic. This not like a stalling issue, but more like a “shut off”.

Coil pack was replaced, crank sensor replaced, no codes.
Have not been able to verify fuel pressure since I did not have the gage when she died the last time.

Appreciate any ideas.

Module under the coils bad. My old Bonny did the same thing. Had to replace it about every other year.

bad/loose wire off the starter or battery could do it also

I had a 90 Park Avenue that used to do that once in a while. I would have to pull the battery terminals and clean them up and put them back, would fix the problem for a while. Happened probably 3 times in 4 years.

Sometimes it shuts off after 1500 miles and starts back up within 5 minutes, while other times it takes 50 miles and 10 minutes.
Anyway, got a FP gauge, etc hooked up ready for the next episode.

Had the same problem with a 95 Olds 88 with a 3.8 in it. I would say 99% of the time it would do it on the highway, Girlfriend would have to pull off the highway and it usually would start back up.(On recommendation from a trusted Mechanic) I replaced the crank sensor and it never did it again.

Replaced the crank sensor just this last weekend.
We'll see if it still does it.

Please do, I am always curious when things like this happen and what the end "Fix" ended up being.

I had the fuel pump go out on the 88 just before I did the crank sensor and I was hoping that it was the pump just getting weak and that was what was doing it........of course it wasn't.

Well, the "no run condition" finally reared its ugly head again.

The car was cold and would not start.
Fuel pressure was fine, but cranking the engine indicated "no spark".
So, I hook up the noid light; "no pulse, and now no spark".
I wiggle the wires just a little at the ignition module, and suddenly the car had spark and injector pulse, and ran on 5 cylinders.
Hooked everything up and it started right up.

Connector is tight onto the module and clean frmo the last time I looked at the problem, so I will be looking at a new connector/wiring.
I hope that solves the problem.

Sound like you found the problem! Hope that fixes it for you once and for all,nothing worse than chasing gremlins.
