Ok. This may be a silly question, but what exactly happens when a TCC solenoid goes bad? Out of nowhere....my converter just stopped locking up. Brake switch is good, as well as the vehicle speed sensor, so does this mean its definately the TCC? I thought the TCC locks and unlocks randomly when it goes bad...as opposed to just not locking period. Im sure I could be wrong. Also, I noticed that my cruise control no longer works, and Im assuming the 2 problems are related. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Chris

The Solenoid going bad can lock up like its stuck or not lock up like the plug had been pulled off. If your TCC isnt locking up then dont drive the car in overdrive cause your tranny oil isnt flowing through the tranny cooler. There is also the possabliy that there is a blockage somewhere in your tranny thats preventing fluied from flowing where it needs to go or your not getting good contacts from the plug to the solenoid. Check the plug to see if you have any broken wires or bad contacts. Its located on the left side of the tranny just above the pan.

Thanks

Thanks Ash.
Ill be sure to check the plug tomorrow. Any thoughts on if the TCC is related to the cruise control not working?
TIA

i dont know about that My cruse control still work so i havent had to work with it yet. but everything else has broken down so i guess i am now an expert. Ya i wish. There are also 2 sencers that the tranny plug goes too I do not know what these do but there on the same plug as the TCC solenoid I am guessing that they tell the computer what gear the tranny is in and if the TCC is locked out or not. There is a possablity that it dose have somthing to due with the cruse control.

I believe that TCC and Cruise work off the same brake switch. Your switch is stuck open (both think your applying the brake, so they turn off). Get under the dash and adjust the switch.

Thanks Ash

I looked under, and all connections look good, so I think Im just going to replace the TCC and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

Connections aren't the problem, it's the adjustment. Make sure the brake lever actually pushes the button on the switch in. This is a common problem.
