Im right in the middle of trying to do valve springs on my car. We have the cylinder compressed to 100PSI, but the tools we have a not freeing the spring. Because of the "bucket" on the bottom, we cannot get it to work. Is there a special tool, or can someone give me some suggestions?

THANKS
Tim

Do you mean that when you compress the spring that the valve goes with it? If so, with the tool removed, just firmly tap the top of the valve/spring a few times and this should shock it so the spring will compress without the valve.

I don't know what tool you have but Kirban's sells a modified rocker/handle that you use with a rocker shaft to compress the springs and get access to the retainers. It worked great and made the job somewhat painless.

if the heads are still on the car you may need to stuff a piece of rope in the cylinder to hold the valve closed.
