Need help with Snap On Modis Data

Gaston has been a huge help through this and has been dealing with me over the phone and coaching me! I checked the fuel pressure today and a few other things that Gaston suggested. I ended up narrowing down the location of an air leak and with Gastons help and a little carb cleaner i found that the front of the plenum is leaking!! It has a leak straight across the front from end to end! I tried to snug it down but the leak is still there. I will order a new plenum gasket tomorrow and change it out once i receive the new one. I will keep you guys posted, see if we finally found the gremlin! i sure hope so!

I am glad to help you and will continue to. Now once you change that plenum gasket, you will need to set fuel pressure back to 43#, TPS to .42v, IAC to around 20v. Now you should see lower RPMs, lower BLMs (somewhere around 128), O2s around 750-850.

i just went out and checked again and with the vacuum line on at idle its showing 38#'s and when it starts to run rough and the ses light comes on it jumps up to 40#'s. so the computer is adding 2#'s when i gets the fault code?

Well, the computer didn't add 2# of fuel. It doesn't have that kind of control. The reason the fuel pressure went up those 2 pounds was because when the engine started running rough, the vacuum drops off, causing the increase.

Now, add what you have found after you checked the MAF and fuel pressure. How about the vacuum leak in front of plenum.
So, what did he find after checking maf and fuel pressure other than the vaccum leak?

A better indicator of a vacuum leak is the IAC number. As un-metered air enters the motor, idle speed increases. The Idle Air Control valves job is to lower it down to the programed idle rpm. It does this by closing the valve more and more until the desired rpm is reached. It can, only close so far until it reaches the end of its ability to adjust. When it gets to the lower end of its ability to adjust, the IAC number on the Scanmaster will read zero.

A low IAC number (usually zero) is the best electronic indicator of a vacuum leak."qouted by Ttype6" in another thread....like i said, vacuum leak usually = 0 iac counts.... so, we're clear that you were right about the vacuum leak, but still waiting for an answer on the rest of your response.......

Now if you are talking about his MAF, it was good. Had both screens in it. Also when he pecked on MAF the car didn't stumble. But then again, this is his lane to tell you and not my pissin match!

Now, add what you have found after you checked the MAF and fuel pressure. How about the vacuum leak in front of plenum.
Well then, how do you explain the higher idle RPMs if it us a fuel problem. Read the whole thread before trying to shoot someone down. Secondly, I spoke with him for about an hour on the phone. There is more to play here. He never mention that when car is warm and when he puts it into gear, the car runs very rough like it is going to die. SIGN of vacuum. This is a bone stock car, so when he puts it into gear, the car shouldn't want to stubble and want to die. Now if he a had a bigger cam (224/224 or higher) I could see that. Also since he just replaced the head gaskets, there is a great chance that chance that his intake/plenum could still be leaking.
Lastly, I look at things at all angles. I have been around these cars and racing them since I was in high school (1990). So I do know a little.

I really appreciate your incite, but would rather it be addressed more as a suggestion rather than a blast. That is the problem around here and why newbies are scared to ask questions or say something. The are scared that someone is going to make fun of them or call them out.

So lets help this guy instead of trying to look like the guy with the biggest TURBO!!
seems like YOU were the only one to get pissy here, when others were just trying to help with there professional insight based on the information given, and you even stated yourself that he didn't give all info at first....then YOU want to talk about reading all the info in the thread, which YOU apparently did not at first when you had your little hissy fit.....then you want to act smug..."now tell them what you have found...how about that vacuum leak".......talk about calling someone out and making newbies afraid to ask questions.....you need to look at yourself.....and to the Mods, sorry for this response, but as i said before, whether in person, or behind a keyboard, if i feel someone is getting cocky, i'm gonna respond.....

Haha C'mon guys!! This thread has been a huge help to me and getting my car figured out!! I did find out my MAF was good and found i had a plenum leak. I just ordered some parts. power plate and few other parts that will hopefully help me straighten out my issues! Soon with help from a chip (viagra) I'll have the bigger turbo!!!!!! haha :D
