I was planning on purchasing the atr 84 header,down/up pipe, crossover set for my 84 GN. I was also going to order the pitbull 3in exhaust system. Now,the question is if the down pipe is 2 1/2in. and the exhaust being 3in would the cat need to have a 2 1/2 inlet with a 3 in outlet ? Another question I had was what is a hot wire ? and would my car perform better with one? If so where can I get it? And the last question is an intercooler. I saw the special on the history channel and saw that they had put one in. Is installing one a good idea or not? the the car will be almost a daily driver. Im not planning on racing it but but would love to be able to humiliate some ford slowbras if I had to. If any body out there can help me with these problems please reply. And if anybody has a suggestion for a header, up/down pipe, cat, exhaust, and crossover combination feel free to let me know. Your input and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Sorry guys if I sound stupid for asking these questions, but I am new to this very complex but great car. And would love to be able to enjoy it just as much as you guys are:D

A hotwire is basically a rewire of your fuel pump harness. The stock wiring is very poor in these cars. It may sound complicated, but racetronix sells a kit at www.racetronix.com that is very high quality and comes with a new pump.

The intercooler debate is very polar here. Some swear they'll never use one, while others swear by them. Mostly it depends on your budget, but I personally think they are a great way to increase performance.

You should look at the performance recipies on gnttype.org for an idea on what kind of modifications you would like to do. You might find you don't want to start with the exhaust.
