Need Help!!

The problem i'm having is my fan is not wanting to come on until it hits 204 degrees. I use Red Armstrong chips and it is suppose to come on at 168 degrees. It worked fine until about a week ago. It always came on at 168 degrees. Do you guys think that the white resister down by the fan is going bad. If it's the resister where can i get one at. Thanks Rob

Check to see if you've got power going into the resistor.If so,the resistance should be .3 ohms.Apparently a lot of guys just jump the resistor and go full speed on the low circuit.The value of that resistor is .3 ohms @ 50 watts.GM sells them for around $90 dollars Canadian[not sure on American price],however you should be able to get one from an electronics supply[Radio Shack] with an aluminum body for around $10[that's what I did].You could even try .1 or .2 ohms to speed the fan up on the low circuit.

Thanks i will do that do you have the part# on the one from Radio Shack.

Check the low speed fan relay. That is the ECM controlled one.

Just swap the two small fan relays and see if it goes on when the car gets to 170.

Also put a meter or test light as described on the relay side of that resistor to ground. Should get 8-10 volts or so there when the car gets to 170.
