Hey guys, I'm usualy pretty computer savy but I'm stuck on this problem. I have this laptop i got a few months ago, 2.2ghz XP and all so its pretty quick but I got a problem. Like my computer starts slacking and then i hit the ctrl-alt-del thing and i see that internet explorer has like one or mutliple porn websites listed as running but I don't see them or anything, and no matter how many times i end task, a new one comes back in a few seconds on the list. Its killin my performance. I scanned with my ad-aware ver 6.0 multiple times, i used my norton which was updated till the beginning of December, but nothing seems to fix this. Any help? thank you in advance.

Try to figure out the name of the "extra" executable that's running, and then search for it with Google. Chances are, you'll quickly find instructions on how to kill it. I just went through something similar for someone else.

I was just at my in-laws house and their computer had something similar. I used Ad-aware and found 349 items on there. So I cleaned them all up, but there is one that continues to put itself back in the registry. I need to find what program is running that keeps putting it back in the registry. I know it's a program on the computer running and not from the internet because the instant you delete it from the registry and shut regedit down, it comes RIGHT back when you start regedit up again.

The name of it is VX2 BetterInternet. I'm going to do a search now on the internet, but if anybody here knows, can ya tell me how to kill it once and for all. Thanks.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

spybot what waste of time, free My A**.

spybot is just another scam, they do the scan on your computer, and when the software finds any malicious cookies, it warns u about it, but it wont remove them for free, as soon as you hit remove or clean, it directs you to their website to give you payments option, free my A**. just another company outhere trying to make a buck i guess.

Spybot SEARCH & DESTROY is free and a great program.Make sure to get the right one.

John

not free anymore, trust me i got the one that says free version, as soon as i tried to clean up the malicious cookies i was forwarded to their website for payment options.
