When Your Scan Tool Sees 15-22 Degrees Of Spark Retard You Should Hear Major Knock. Do You?
 
Well I ended up figuring out that it was overboosting. I ended up playing with the boost controller and set it to almost the loosest it could get without falling off. It took the boost down to about 13-14 psi. Does that sound too low? Should I play with it some more? It isn't knocking at all now. The chip claims it can handle 15.6-16.2 psi but I don't know how much stock I'll put into that. Before I played with it seemed boost was 17-18. Sucks my boost gauge is by my shifter so I can't see it too well while flooring it. Plus the highway seems to be the only place I can test this out so I can't stare at the gauge too long.

You might be able to squeeze out some more on pump gas, try to keep knock to 0.0
 
Yes fuel psi rises with boost as I push the gas. It does the same regardless if I have the stock setting of 22 spark degrees or setting 3 of 18. If the knock sensor is bad wouldn't it throw a code?

On a more serious note, I don't think it will throw a code for a bad knock sensor either. I've NEVER seen a knock sensor code and don't think that such an animal exists.
 
I know an Alky system is high on my priority list. However my transmission is slipping. My trans should be top priority right? Or do you all think I should get an Alky system before I have a bad motor and trans? When I do get to the Trans I will be replacing it with the T400 switch Pitch. At least now the knock is pretty minimal. I have to work hard to get it to knock and the highest I seen driving it today was 4.2. The average was 1.6. First thing I need to do is pass emissions though. Uggh failed Hydrocarbon by freakin .2 today. Hope the TT emissions chip gets here soon. Only allowed one more retest before I start needing state approval to take additional retests. Lucky test number 3 wasn't so lucky after all. Oh and thanks for the article link Super. I bookmarked it for reference. So fellow TBers what would you change first if you were in my shoes? Can't afford the trans now but may be able to swing the Alky. However if I get the Alky I'm sure I won't be able to afford the trans at all this year. Razor Alky system or T400 switch Pitch? decisions...decisions..
 
If your trans blows u won't be able to drive period so having alky would be pointless. Get the trans, keep your boost low so u don't blow anything, and get the side pillar gauge holder so u can keep your eye on your boost at all times. U can find one of those on e bay for cheap. Your welcome in advance;)
