Sir Chicken, I did it the same way minus safty gogles(i know dumb on my part) under carriage dust/crap in the eyes kinda hurts. It was a PITA... well PITE.

Ya...ever since I got metal slivers in my eye's while drilling holes in the floor pan of a 69 Camaro to install a rear sway bar....I always wear safety glasses when under a car...or operating a weed whacker....;)

I did a few fuel pumps in GN's, I dont remember it being this hard. I leave the straps attached(unbolting the bolts that are closet to the axle and loosening the bolts on the rear to allow the straps to hang down). But I also have a 4 post lift and a fork-lift to hold the tank up for me which is the hard part.

took me about 20 minutes to get the tank out of my car, and about 10 minutes to get it back in. it took longer to remove it because of the rust and undercoating overspra on the threads of the front bolts and a little bit of time fighting the hose connections that had never been apart in the first 24 years of the car's life.
going back in, everything just kind of fell into place. then i spent the next 2 hours tryingto find a way to run the Racetronix hotwire harness to the engine compartment in a way that looked like it was stock..

finished the install and put some gas in the car...still getting some knock  but it seems the new fuel pump is holding the pressure better. Still have to run the hotwire kit... On a happy note, my gas gauge is working now
Did you happen to change the fuel filter? I have been amazed at how much restriction of fuel can be caused by a filter that is gooed up from old gas/varnish/etc. from an old tank. Especially after it has been jostled around enough to dislodge some crap and send it downstream. Don't underestimate the importance of a good filter!

He replaced the fuel filter a couple weeks ago. I think he is still running the original injectors, FPR, no hotwire kit, and an old Red Armstrong chip.

Don, I noticed you tried to call and I have not had a chance to get back to you yet. I'm ridiculously busy. I worked all weekend and am flying out to CO this week for work.

Get that hotwire kit, injectors, FPR, and chip in. Set your static FP to 43 and boost to 15psi. You are going to be blown away by how well the car runs.

Yep, replaced the fuel filter a few weeks ago and installed the hotwire kit on saturday.

Mike, called to see if you were going to be around this next weekend, taking a PTO day on friday to tackle the injectors, chip, and adj FPR. Sounds like you need a vacation from work...

Not sure what next weekend will be like. I'll let you know when it gets closer. Call me if you get stuck on Friday and need advise. No guarantee I will answer since I'll be at work. You can always text me too. Maybe you can bring it by Saturday evening if you get it back together.
