A neighbor/friend of mine who lives up the street wants to race me with his wife's car. It's a first gen Firebird, 4 speed, with a blown 461 big block chevy. The thing has regular street tires on it, which will mean spin-city.

I'll really be amazed if he beats me. Back in the day I owned a pretty strong 72 SS Chevelle that never got beat in 7 years, and my GN is stronger than it was.

As soon as the weather breaks we are gonna give it a go. This should be interesting. I'm tempted to throw in a little special sauce and up the boost just for 'insurance'. haha.

Do yourself a favor and take it to the track. Always a good idea to lay a friendly wager, just for good measure. You can even run n/t.

We both agreed that I'd spank him at the track. On the street (private road of course) it's a different game.

Make sure you get in front of him really fast. You don't want him going sideways and hitting you. I'd bet in a quarter mile you could let off at 800ft and still win.

Fast forward to :47 for the money shot

I saw that video a few months back on corvetteforum.com Noobs with more power than they can handle.

Yeah, I always worry about the skills of the guy next to me more than me. If it's his wife car, I'd be worried he would think nothing of the risk of putting it in the wall to win a race. If it was his car he built and cared for, it's a different story. I've done a lot of stupid stuff when I was younger in my early mid 20's with my T and Z06, but I've never hurt my cars or anyone else's car.

HIS WIFE'S CAR?? wtf does he Drive? i see who wears the pants in that relationship...

He drives an early 70's Pantera. I've already beat it. His next project is an Ultima GTR. Now that one might be tough to beat.

Right before I got married and had kids, I was planning on getting an Ultima GTR to build in the garage. That would be a sweet cruiser with a crate LSX.

A little 'teaser' happened today. I was leaving a car show just as he was arriving. I made my left turn (four lane divided, I was in the middle section) and here he comes. He was ready to make his left and then he saw me. We both waved as I pulled out. I took the right lane and I hear him punch it in the left lane. I was in 2nd gear already and punched it. Spun some and hooked to a quick 80+. He never even got near my back bumper. I'll have to see what his thoughts are now. The little V6 might be stronger than he thought.

I snapped a pic of him cruising up the street today. Check out the custom fender-well headers. He fabbed them by hand and had them coated. Sort of a match-box car look to it.

Slapper bars, really? Only an idiot would use them and it looks like he's got more money than brains. If he had a clue on how to set a chasis up then he might be able to take you but he's nothing more than a show and NOGO idiot!:p

I had traction bars on my 79 T/A. They worked OK if you adjust them right. Cal-tracs are the better choice. It does look like a Hot Wheels car.

Looks like somebody already blew his hood off. Tell him you are in line to do his doors!

Looks like a fun car to cruise around in with the top down and the blower whining but for actual performance, not so much.

Yeah, I think that was his intention with the car. Just a wild lookin machine to have fun with.

Side note: I just bought another toy today. It's a 1970 Nova with a 750HP engine. 523 cubic inch pump gas engine. I'll post pics in a separate thread. The car doesn't pull as hard as the Buick. I'm gonna investigate why because it should haul the mail.

What's it have for cam and heads? 750hp pump gas engine needs a lot of rpm
