i drove down to rockingham friday night ( 535 miles ) and said hi to mom and dad and went straight to the track. first pass, the car backfired and blew a giant blue flame because it wouldn't go into second. that pass it went 13.14@107.
i came back to the staging lanes and let air out of my street tires ( yokohama i forget's ) until i got around 24-25 psi in the tires, i cleaned them off good in the box and staged. i left with just bringing the rpm's up and launched. i got a 1.77 60' time on street tires  and ran 12.53@107. remember, all of this is on street tires, pump gas, and alcohol ( single nozzle ), and 22 psi of boost. i had the pump speed set on around 7. i came back around one more time after they made the announcement about hotlapping and giving others a chance to make time runs, but i didn't care i just wanted to get as many runs in as possible.
i made no changes other than to do a little longer burnout. they stopped me right as i was getting ready to stage because a mustang had a problem in the right lane. well, they check everything out and then put a fresh patch of VHT down right before i got up. i do another burnout after waiting so long and stage against some mustang on slicks and spray. he's purging and looking over at me. i build about a pound of boost and i'm thinking it's pointless, but when i let her rip she bit hard. i was gone and the mustang was playing catch up all the way down the track. he was coming hard the whole time and i only beat him by .0028 seconds :D . i ran a 12.08@111 with a 1.83 60' time to his 11.76@122. i didn't get that one, he ran 7.74 in the 1/8th to my 7.71. i was sooooooo happy with that run on street tires that i wanted to do it again, but THEY CLOSED THE STAGING LANES.

all in all i had a good a$$ time and i ran my alltime best period.

Congratulations man. How the heck did you get a 1.77 60ft on street tires? (staring at my 2.2 60ft times) :(

It's called spraying VHT (a traction compond), or "prepping the track". :D

Something that is NOT done at our track very often....

BTW, Congrats on the new best Godfrey! :)

thanks guys, i thought i was going to go through the roof when i saw that time. there was another GN there that night and everyone thought it was me, but he ran a high 5 in the 1/8 and backed out then left. everyone was waiting for him to come back and he never did. does anyone know who this was?

Great times, Godfrey!!! That other GN was Richie Kibler, TurboKid on here. See the Stage II forum for a post from him. He was trying a new turbo but spun pretty much the whole 1/8th mile so only made the one pass. Sat. he went back to his little 88 (was trying a 91 :-)) and set both ends of his class record and won the season championship. He runs an 1/8th mile 10 or 10.5" tire class.

How wide are the tires? What suspension mods?

Put it on some drag radials or slicks.

the tires are 255/50 yokohama's. i really don't have any suspension mods, no boxed control arms, no air in my bag i just wanted to run for fun but when he put the VHT down right before i ran i knew i could hook a little. i failed to mention that it probably would have been an eleven second pass had i not backed out a little because it started to spin after the second gear shift.

Wow Godfrey, sounds like you had a great time(pun intended);)

So, is that trans working alright for you? What happened to it on that first pass? I know you have been playing with your shift points.

Unbelievable that you pulled a 1.7 on streeters and only a 1lb launch. Got some quick spool goin' dont'cha?

Congrats man.

me and a couple of guys talked about coming back down there this sunday, but i don't think we'll be able to make it. i really, really want to come back. i'll keep you posted if we do greg.

mike..i had a great time man, sorry i didn't call you back friday but i went straight to the track. the trans is working great, rob did a great job on it but i had it shifting to high. it was shifting at 5900 rpms on the pass when i backfired. i was shocked with the 1.77 60' also. i'll give you a call tomorrow so i can get you're tazzo back to you.
