My daughter wrecked her car and I'm looking for a replacement. I've seen several GTP's low miles, clean, but I'm still up in the air. I haven't done a search on here as of yet, but can someone tell me the best year or years to be looking at and where to look for problem areas?

97 is problematic when tryin to mod. not really problems, but it is lacking a few features all other years have. 98 has the best stock computer, performance wise. 99 has a good air box, but 00 and up have the best flowing air boxes. 97-98 have the most restrictive. eveything else is the same, just different year vins. so get one with low miles so you can drive it forever. mine has 96,000 and im just starting on the modding, and it loves it. mkae sure the trans is in good order, some go out real easy, some last forever. i think they are good for about 350fwhp before they let go easy and need upgrading.

97 was the first one I was looking at 82,000 miles super clean, mature one owner car. I called back, but was too late. She was asking $6,000. does this seem in line for the mileage? The others seem to be priced somewhat higher, bear in mind I just started looking. I saw a 02 with 40,000 miles for $16,000.
I thought I should be able to pickup something nice for under $10,000 any input would be appreciated.....

my bro has a 2000 GTP....only expensive problem he had was a leaking intake manifold gasket
no mechanical problems whatsoever though...

Sorry I was out of town for the holiday . Just got back still want pics. I will send in the morning if you still want them. Sory about that.

97's are ok. 98-99 had a tb with a maf bar in it that causes some restriction. 2000+ have a nicer tb. simple mods can put u into the 13's. 12's will cost you a tranny. 10's are reachable on stock lower ends. my 98gtp ran 12's on 93 octane and about 26mpg hwy 22 city.
i dont recomend a gtp unless you want her racing cause pushing the pedal a little down and it will take off on her. my wife nearly killed us a few times on a stock motor.
