How much is a new coil pack and where do I get one? Are they hard to install? Thanks.

Easy as hell to install. Extremely expensive new. They're $400 list from an auto parts store, about $279 actual cost if you have a shop. Good thing my friend owns a shop and I can order parts through him :D

I'd be leery of buying old coil packs. How do you know the thing works? How do you know it isn't 'weeping'? (they leak stuff out of the seam when they get old). I felt my $279 + whatever the ignition module cost was money well spent for peace of mind.

You can get the coilpacks from Autozone for apx $65.00 to $70.00. I forgot which brand  .

How come one person says $400 and the other says $70? What's the difference? Are the ones from Auto zone any good?

Try Kirban...he has a pretty good deal on them.

I bought a few from him earlier this year.

If I'm not mistaken, $99????

GM coilpacks, sold by most TR vendors, are in the $75-100 range. I just spoke with Casper's & asked about the comparisons between a GM & a Echlin?/Autozone unit. Their response was that there is virtually no difference in the aftermarket brands & GM's.

They assured me that either unit works well.:)

Ignition modules are more expensive. Normally priced between $180-220.

The less than $100 price is the normal price.

Brand new coil on ebay that is around $50 at the moment. Seems like the vendors are often around $85.

Ohhhh.. I paid $260 something for BOTH coil pack and ignition module. So I didn't get raped after all. Now I feel better. :)

The John that nitrousmike175 is referring to is John DiCarlo and he often posts things for sale in the "Parts For Sale" board on this forum. his S/N is Red Regal T. i hear he is a great guy to deal with and has nice parts. i think my neighbor has gotten some parts from his as well.
