new convertor.. no knock

Installed Bruces 9X11 true 3000 stall convertor this past weekend. Finally made some WOT blasts yesterday. With my old 12" stock convertor (2200 stall with my setup) it usually knocked 3-4 degrees during 2nd gear. Now, at WOT with new convertor, there is no knock. Trying to understand why the knock went away? My thinking was I would have to pull some timing out because the new convertor would spool up quicker. However that is not the case...

converter is slipping more and applying less load to the engine at lower rpms so that detonation is not induced by the excessive load.

Did notice my LV8's are much lower.. That make sense with the convertor bearing less of a load on the motor. Tanx again for the responses..
