new conveter with problems

I bought a torque converter from Cottons sometime late last year and have just got around to having it installed. It's a 2800-3000 stall. Every so often when I lay into the car it doesn't want to get out of second. This problem didn't occur with the stock converter so I'm guessing this is the problem. Could it be something else or is the converter the problem? I tried to contact Cotton's but it seems the website is down and the phone number I have isn't the right one.

it is highly unlikely that its a convertor problem.
