new look - new hook! pics of new wheel tire combo

Went to the track a few weeks ago on my 16" street tires and the results were less than good, lots of spinning, not much motivation. SO, I bit the bullet and bought the rim tire combo I've wanted since I bought the car.
Big change in the over all attitude of the car. Soon We'll see if it helps at the track....

Rims are 15X6 & 15X8 Centerline telstars, 4" backspace on the rear...I think 3 1/2 on frnt (or there-abouts)
Tires are BF Goodrich 215/70 frnt and Nitto 275/60 Drag radials on the rear.

I REALLY Like the look and it definately rides better.

Zam, I got the same tires except they are BF's. I didnt drive the car yet. Does your rub? Looks like mine are going to rub. Mine are also 6o wall. I was thinking I have to roll the fender but want to do it really nice. Got to find a good procedure on how to do it.

I tell ya, I was TOTALLy convinced they were going to rub...It looked like it, even felt like it (with my hands measuring clearance)But actually, NO rubbing at all (yet at least) I've driven it about 20 miles around town and no rubs yet.

I think 60 series tires look great on TR's. 50 series look too "short", IMHO. Plus, the 60's help with traction!

AZGN, it should look like yours...alot of the crap you spewed over the years about tire size sunk in . My choices were based ALOT on that advice. Do you run the same fronts? So far so good, but I'm still a little worried about them rubbing.

By the way, they're having fun night this Friday at MCR again. Mandy and I are going...Jay too I think...I'm going to get him to run his pig down the track (yes, the Mark VIII). My car now looks like a race car, now let's see if it'll run like one!

Cost? Well, the rims were like $502.95 shipped from Jegs.
Tires were $378.00 for all four (I get a killer discount), mounted and balanced them my self.

Thanks for the props guys, I really like the look AND hope it'll help me stick at least a little better. I couldn't get a race before, now I think I really screwed my self...

well, I have 15X7's on the front, but I agree those 275's are awful close........ I take 'em off every fall and put the ET Streets on and I have never seen any evidence of rubbing

think you'll be ok...just take a peek at the backside every now & then

That combo rocks, man! I love the rake, it's perfect! I've never been a big fan of the 60's on the back, but you've pulled it off well. Great job on your car.

WOW college is turning out to be a lot of fun AND alot of work. Its not hard; theres just A LOT of work involved in it. Its cool though.

Well, I thing a set of rims and tires are on my list for future purchases. Its embarising to have a TR and have a best 60' of 2.5sec
