I have a cat back stainless steel exhaust system from Kenne Bell, its 2.5" and it came with aluminized mufflers that are still in good shape. The sound is very annoying while cruising so I would like to replace them with something that cruises nicely but doesn't have allot of restriction. What is my best bet for a direct replacement.

I used stainless ultraflows to replace my rotted super turbo mufflers that came with my Kenne Bell system.

The exact part number might be available with a search.

They flow great but the 2.5" system still drones a bit.

Hollow cat. here.

One of the best parts I ever bought for the car, the pipes have lasted 22 years so far.

Yea, I have a hollowed cat as well. How much are the stainless ultraflows and were they a direct replacement? My KB system looks as good as the day I bought it. I sure would like to get rid of the drone.
Thanks, paul

Stainless ultraflows are about $100 each plus shipping.

Look at model 17272 and check the specs. to see if it's the same as what's on your car.

You need to measure the overall length, oval or round style, offset or center inlets and outlets.

And should be 2.5" inlet and outlet.

They should have the dimensions listed on the walker or dynomax website for the stainless ultraflows so you can be sure to get the right one.

The 2 1/2 exhaust I have on my GN from Cotton's uses SS Magnaflow's. I love the quiet sound they have. Sounds darn near as quiet as the original stock exhaust! If I want noise I can open the dump.

The ONLY way to completely eliminate drone is to install the 3 muffler system. ( do a search) you can keep your existing KB system up to the rear end then Fab new pipes for the third muffler. Seriously, this is the ONLY way to cancel drone. I personally have tried just about every exhaust system there is to eliminate drone. Dennis Hogan came up with the system. There are a few folks that run it now. Bob Bailey among them. I completely understand your headache. Build it right and you'll never look back. Dennis just ran a 10.12@136 using this system.

Ken is right, I have some high dollar Borlas and there is still a faint drone.
Just not as bad as most.

Sounds interesting though. Are there any pictures of this system? Might be a future project.

I still would like to know what gives the least amount of drone in a 2 muffler system.
